10 Best PSG Players of All Time: Ici, C’est Paris!

Who are the best PSG players of all time? The club’s fortunes changed forever in 2011 when Qatar Sports Investments bought the club.  

Before all the glitz and glamour, PSG was founded in 1970 and has a rich history of stars. Here’s the top ten Paris Saint-Germain players ever: 

10. Thiago Silva

Thiago Silva joined PSG from AC Milan in 2012 in a deal worth up to €42 million. He became the cornerstone of PSG’s defense winning seven Ligue 1 titles in eight seasons. 

His leadership, defensive strength and composure made him one of the best center-backs in the world and he became a leader with huge influence across the squad.

9. Pauleta

One of the best PSG players of all time, Pedro Pauleta spent the final five seasons of his career at the club with the Portuguese scoring 109 goals in 212 appearances for the club.

Ligue 1 top goalscorer three times, he was voted league’s best player twice and earned cult-like status with his all-around ability and his seven goals in 15 Champions League appearances. 

8. Marco Verratti

Marco Verratti mastered the art of passing with the Italian midfielder becoming a key figure in PSG’s midfield across 11 seasons and came up clutch on many occasions. 

Before a big money move to Saudi Arabia, Verratti bossed it in midfield and controlled the tempo in 416 total appearances including 79 in the Champions League. 

7. Safet Sušić

Before all the glitz and glamour, Bosnian Safet Sušić was easily one of the best PSG players, if not, the best ever. Through nine seasons at the club he graced the pitch with his technical brilliance and creativity. 

With his elegance, exceptional passing, vision, and playmaking abilities, Sušić helped the club secure the Ligue 1 title in 1986 and left a lasting legacy thanks to his artistry on the field. 

6. George Weah

Arriving from Monaco in 1992, George Weah only needed three seasons to become one of the best PSG players of all time. So remarkable was Weah, he won the Ballon d’Or for his time at the club and at Milan. 

In 138 games he scored 55 goals and was known for his goal-scoring ability by utilising his speed, stamina, work rate, athleticism and his deadly attacking instincts. 

5. Neymar Jr.

At a cost of a whopping €489 million for PSG, Neymar made the move from Barcelona for six drama-filled seasons at the club. His world-record transfer fee was backed up with flair, creativity, and goal-scoring prowess and he formed a powerful partnership with Kylian Mbappé.

Neymar scored 82 times in 112 Ligue 1 games and won the league in all six seasons at the club. No one can doubt the mercurial superstar’s talents, although his time at the club was marred by injuries and off field dramas. 

4. Edison Cavani

One of the best strikers of his generation, Edison Cavani was exceptional for PSG in six title-winning seasons out of seven at the club, after joining from Napoli in 2013. From 301 games for the club he went on to score 200 goals. 

Quickly establishing himself as one of the world’s best, the Uruguayan striker was renowned for his relentless work rate, clinical finishing, aerial dominance, and scored 30 Champions League goals. 

3. Carlos Bianchi 

Way before the luxury of the billions of dollars, Carlos Bianchi became one of the best PSG players despite only two seasons at the club. In his first season after joining in 1977, he scored 37 goals in 38 games. 

Bianchi was revered for his skillful play, vision, and positioning. One of the best strikers of his generation he would finish scoring 71 goals in 80 games for the club.

2. Zlatan Ibrahimović

Whether it was in the Serie A, the MLS, or Ligue 1, Zlatan Ibrahimović tore it up and his second on our list of best PSG players ever. His arrival in 2012 coincided with the clubs first Ligue 1 title in 19 years, a season he banged in 30 goals from 34 games. 

His flamboyant style, prolific goal-scoring ability, and leadership on the pitch were pivotal in PSG’s dominance in French football. In four seasons he scored 156 goals in 180 appearances and won Ligue 1 in every season. 

1. Kylian Mbappé

According to Neymar it was hell playing with Kylian Mbappe, but there’s no doubt that the Frenchman was the best player in PSG history. Mbappe had extraordinary speed, technical skill, and finishing ability.

His 256 goals in all competitions helped guide PSG into a history of dominance with six League 1 titles in seven seasons. Despite his strong performances on the European stage, the Champions League eluded Mbappe while at the club.
